Mother’s Day: What to get the Most Important Woman in Your Life

Moms are the best.

They are always there for us, and they are constantly doing things for us, whether we know it or not. They’re taking care of us from when we are babies all the way into adulthood, and even then, they are probably helping to take care of our children. Unfortunately, many times, we can be ungrateful for what our moms are constantly doing for us. But, we hope that will change this Mother’s Day.

Being in college, especially, we tend to feel as though we are adults and that we don’t really need or want anyone, especially our moms, to help us with anything. Sometimes, we feel as though our moms are being too nosy, always checking up on us and making sure that we’re eating right or keeping up with our school work. But, really, they’re just being moms. They have been doing these things since we’ve been in diapers. Not to mention, they are just making sure that we are happy and healthy.

We tend to forget that our moms have been and always will be there for us. That our moms will never stop caring, loving, or worrying about us. That even when it seems like there’s no one to talk to, your mom will always be there to help. That’s why it’s so important, so crucial to show your mom just how much you love and appreciate all that she does. Let’s face it, without our moms, we wouldn’t even be here.

Because moms are so amazing, we wanted to share some ideas with you about gifts for Mother’s Day that could mean the world to them but won’t break the bank.

  1. A Card: Simple right? It really is! You can go out and buy a nice Mother’s Day card from Hallmark and many other stores for relatively cheap. If you really don’t have time to go out and get a card, then you can always send her an e-card. It’s quick, but effective. But, our favorite has to be homemade cards. To moms, we believe homemade cards mean the most because it shows that you really took the time out of your day and busy schedule in order to make it. Plus, you have ample space to thank your mom for everything that she has done for you. All you really need for a homemade card is a piece of paper, possibly a little creativity, and a pencil or some other writing utensil. If you get your mom anything, make sure to get her a card.
  2. Your Time: In today’s fast-paced world, it seems as though no one has time to do anything anymore. Everyone’s so busy with school or work that they barely have enough time to eat. That’s why we think one of the best gifts that you could give your mom is some of your time. It’s relatively easy to do, and definitely cost effective. Take the time out of your busy schedule to get lunch with your mom or maybe go get a manicure with her. Something that she likes to do! If you’re at school, and you aren’t going to be home for Mother’s Day, then simply give your mom a phone call and talk to her for an hour. Whatever you choose to do with your mom, as long as you spend some time with her and talk with her, we’re sure she’ll appreciate it!

We’re not saying to skimp on a gift for your mom (seriously, if we could send our moms on a beautiful cruise somewhere, we would). We’re simply saying that if you cannot afford to spend money on a gift, then a card and your time are perfect gifts for your mom. If you know your mom would really like a candle from Yankee Candle, and you can afford it, then buy her a candle. If your mom really needs a spa day, then give her a spa day. Maybe your mom really enjoys nature walks or hiking. So, instead of buying her some new hiking boots, go on a hike with her and spend time with her.

Don’t go another Mother’s Day without telling your mom how much you appreciate and love her and everything that she does for you. Get/make her a card, give her some of your time, and, as always, stay SAVVY!
