Ah May.

What a great time of year. School is ending. Summer’s beginning. The sun is shining, and it’s warm outside. Beach days are soon to come, and who could forget about ice cream? What does any of this have to do with scholarships, you might ask? Well, to be completely honest, not much. But, if you’re like us, then you’ll get plenty of enjoyment and satisfaction out of saving money next school year by applying to these 19 amazing scholarship opportunities!

  1. The Most Promising Logo Design Scholar. Award: $1,500. Deadline: May 1st. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA and 1 year of completed coursework in graphic or product design, branding or marketing.   2. Army Emergency Relief – Spouse Education Assistance. Award: $500-$2,200. Deadline: May 1st. This scholarship requires you to be the spouse of an active duty or retired soldier, registered in DEERS (Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System), pursuing your first undergrad degree, and maintain a GPA of at least 2.0. In addition, you must not be active duty or in a reserve component or a retiree of the National Guard, Reserves, or other military branch.   3.  Actuarial Diversity Scholarship. Award: $1,000-$4,000. Deadline: May 2nd. For this scholarship, the applicant must be pursuing a career in the actuarial profession, must have one parent who is Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American, or Pacific Islander, will be a full-time student at a U.S. accredited educational institution and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   4. Electronic Document Scholarship Foundation. Award: $1,000-$5,000. Deadline: May 2nd. To be eligible, you need to be show an interest in pursuing a career within the Document Management and Graphic Communication industry, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be a full-time student attending an accredited college or university as of the Fall 2016.   5. VanWinkle’s Scholarship. Award: $1,500. Deadline: May 15th. For this scholarship opportunity, the applicant must be enrolled in a higher education program (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s), have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be interested in Sleep Psychology/Research, Sleep Health, or Journalism. In addition, the applicant must provide a personal statement that describes their academic background and passions, and a description of a project that they have completed relevant to sleep or journalism.   6. The Casper Scholarship. Award: $2,000. Deadline: May 15th. This scholarship requires you be to enrolled in a higher education program (see VanWinkle’s Scholarship description), have at least a 3.0 GPA, and show interest in Product Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or Health & Wellness. Also, you need to provide a personal statement about your academic background and interests as well as a description of a project that you have completed relevant to Product Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or Health & Wellness.   7. Dickson Law Scholarship. Award: $1,000. Deadline: May 15th. For applicants interested in this scholarship, you must currently be enrolled in an accredited college in the U.S. or are planning to matriculate in the Fall of 2016, must be in good academic standing if currently enrolled in college or high school, and submit a video essay with a response to the following question: Whether it’s due to accident or error, nearly all businesses are at risk for liability in some form or another during their lifetime.   8. Toptal STEM Scholarships for Women. Award: $5,000. Deadline: May 15th. To be eligible for this scholarship opportunity, the applicant must be a woman who is 13 years or older. In addition, the applicant must make a meaningful contribution to Open Source, publish a post on their personal blog, and complete the application.   9. Ashley Schiff Park Preserve Scholarship. Award: $1,000. Deadline: May 16th. This one is EXCLUSIVE to Stony Brook University students! To be eligible, you must be a full-time student, be a Junior, Senior, or Grad student with a strong interest in the natural environment, and you must have at least a 3.0 GPA. For this scholarship opportunity, you need to be enrolled in any post secondary institution and submit an essay about this topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.   11. Carol Simpson Scholarship. Award: $2,000. Deadline: May 31st. If you’re pursuing a career in radio, television, or digital journalism, then this is the scholarship for you! This scholarship will be awarded to students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors, who are full-time.   12. Ed Bradley Scholarships. Award: $10,000. Deadline: May 31st. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant needs to be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in college, who is pursuing a career in radio, television, or digital journalism.   13. Lou and Carole Prato Sports Reporting Scholarship. Award: $1,000. Deadline: May 31st. Like the previous two scholarships, you need to be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior, who is pursuing a career in radio, television, or digital journalism, in order to be eligible for this scholarship. For this scholarship opportunity, the applicant must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in college, who is pursuing a career in radio, television, or digital journalism.
