Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
As we prepare to say farewell to 2013 and ring in the new year, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of you about an important issue – drinking and driving.
The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends and, sometimes, these celebrations involve cocktails that could not only impair your judgment, but affect your ability to drive as well. If you will be consuming alcohol this holiday season, please make arrangements to get home prior to leaving the house.
Here are some tips for getting home safely:
- Program the phone number of several local taxi companies into your cell phone.
- Assign a designated driver
- If you are worried about not being able to stop yourself from getting behind the wheel of your car, give your keys to someone you know will not be drinking.
As we mentioned before, the holidays are meant to be spent with friends and family. Drinking and driving not only affects you, but the friends and families of everyone you endanger by getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated.
Stay alive – don’t drink and drive.
