THE SAVVY STUDENT’S GUIDE TO SHOPPING
As stated earlier, textbook shopping is going to be a process. The first thing you must do, after figuring out what textbook you need first (duh!), is to comparison shop. However, between packing up the rest of your stuff and throwing your last minute laundry into the dryer, you might not have the time to call the bookstore, check out Barnes and Noble, and compare online prices. Thankfully, there are a few sites that can help:
1. BIGWORDS – BIGWORDS.com is the Lord’s gift to the broke college student. It is the premier comparison site when it comes to college textbooks. Allowing you to search by ISBN, author, and title, BIGWORDS makes finding your college textbook at the right price quick and easy. Their search display allows you to view textbook prices across multiple vendors, ensuring you get the best price possible. In addition, BIGWORDS also allows you to rent textbooks AND will even let you sell your textbooks back at the end of the semester making this site a win-win for everyone.
2. Campus Books – CampusBooks.com, like BIGWORDS, is a comparison engine that allows you to view current textbook prices of several vendors. The nifty thing about Campus Books is that it has a search filter. You can opt to view only new, used, eBooks, rentals, or even international books. These search filters make the searching for your textbook easier and cut down the amount of time it takes to pick the right book at the right price.
